比喻将不及原物的东西接续在后面(常用于续写别人著作的谦词)至于闻见无多，记叙谫陋，续貂之病，阅者原之, 我实在熬不住，不免续貂。
1.濫竽充數的官吏。參見「狗尾續貂」條。明．劉基〈夜坐有懷呈石末公〉詩：「雄豪竊據皆屠狗，功業輿臺總續貂。」 2.比喻事物前後銜接不相稱，後續者不及前者。今多用以自謙接續他人未完成的事業或著作。《紅樓夢》第七六回：「我意思想著你二位警句已出，再若續時，恐後力不加; 我竟要續貂，又恐有玷。」
